Guidelines for Activity Safety during Typhoon

Circumstances Action
Typhoon Signal No. 1
  • Headquarters run as usual.
  • Activities staff pay attention to developments of weather and prepare for suitable arrangements.
Typhoon Signal No. 3
  • Headquarters run as usual.
  • In case situations are expected to be fast deteriorating, all outdoor activities and activities outside the center should be cancelled or stopped.
  • If activities are cancelled or re-arranged, the participants or parents/governors should be notified as soon as possible.
  • If the responsible person is holding outdoor activities, the staff or company instructors in the Headquarters should notify the responsible person as soon as possible, so that quick arrangements can be made.
Typhoon Signal No. 8
  • The organization should stop all services.
  • When warnings are given, all activities outdoor or outside the Headquarters to be held within 2 hours should be cancelled.
  • The Headquarters/ Companies should arrange for members to go home. If circumstances do not allow, the instructors should let members stay in the Headquarters/safe places, so that parents/governors can arrange for taking back the members.


Safety Guidance for Activities in Rainstorm Warning or Thunder Warning

Circumstances Action
Amber Rainstorm Warning
  • Headquarters run as usual.
  • Should pay close attention to weather situations and prepare for suitable arrangements.
Red Rainstorm Warning
  • All outdoor activities should be cancelled.
  • Activities held in the Headquarters/indoor can continue.
  • If bad weather continues, all activities held outdoor/outside the Headquarters within four hours should be cancelled.
  • Should pay close attention to weather situations and prepare for suitable arrangements.
Black Rainstorm Warning
  • All outdoor activities being held should be cancelled or stopped.
  • If held in the Headquarters/indoor activities can continue.
  • For safety, all persons present should stay in safe places.
  • If bad weather continues, all outdoor activities or activities outside the Headquarters to be held within four hours should be cancelled.
  • Should pay close attention to weather situations and prepare for suitable arrangements.
Thunder Warning
  • All water sports should be stopped.
  • All land activities should be cancelled, postponed, or held as usual, depending on the weather situations by then.


Note:

  • All the above situations apply to activities held in the Headquarters and Companies.
  • The Headquarters and Companies should notify the participants about the arrangements of cancelling or postponing of the related activities in one week or less.
